I’ve been keeping up with the news in Philadelphia, lately. Within the 4 days, 3 police officers have been killed. It seems as if people just don’t care anymore. One officer, was shot while walking in on a Robbery at a Dunkin’ Donuts. He died this morning at 9:40 a.m. as a result of this shooting. You can read the article here. It really is a shame that people have no regard for the lives of others. I won’t say “anymore” because in my opinion, people never really cared. What’s more is, when I think about things like the Death Penalty, I get even more disgusted. What makes these officials think it’s alright to kill someone for their crimes? Technically, it is murder, no matter how they look at it. Personally, I’d rather see someone locked up for the rest of their lives than for them to be killed. These type of people don’t need death to learn a lesson. What lesson could they truly learn being deceased? It doesn’t make any sense. Of course, taking the lives of these people would keep them from harming someone else, but at the same time, it gives the public a general idea that it’s alright to execute someone for doing something wrong. Also, the families of these people do not deserve to go through the grieving process. They suffer as well. I guess to each it’s own.
The things that go on in this world truly frighten me. There are people killing other people, rapists, molesters, and just plain old psychos who get enjoyment out of causing misery to others. I don’t think it will ever end, but rather, get worse. Some of the things that people do, I cannot imagine ever doing in my life. Granted, everyone has done something in their lifetime that was spiteful or emotionally harmful to someone else, but not everyone wants to participate in the extreme measures of activities that will have a long-term saddening effect on someone’s life. For every person that does the right thing, there’s some jerk on the other end of things attempting to ruin someone’s life. I know that some people may think, “Then what is the point of trying to do the right thing?”. The answer to this question is quite simple. I’m a person who believes in coincidence, chance, and fate. Anything you do, is connected to some other random thing in life, whether it’s your own or someone else’s. Who’s to say that in you doing something good, you don’t ultimately effect the life of someone else in some positive way? Even with just this small chance why not just become motivated with the fact that you could quite possibly cause a positive change in someone’s life or your own for that matter? Think about it.

I’m kind of for the death penalty in some cases. Cases in which the most heinous and unimaginable crimes have been committed and it leaves you thinking, why does this person deserve to live? It’s like, you raped and dismember a four year child, what can said person possible learn in prison, ya know? Some would argue that it allows them to actually think about what they’ve done, but in a lot of the cases they simply don’t care, aren’t remorseful, and openly would say they’ve probably do it again if they were out on the streets. The thing is, prison isn’t a rehabilitation center. Prison officials , Police officers and prisoners all relunctly admit this. I have uncles and one aunt that have went to prison for years only to come out and go back to the same things such a drug dealings and robbery, prison didn’t teach them to regret their crimes. That isn’t to say prison doesn’t straighten some people out or cause them to regret what they’ve done.
Oh man, that was long, just my opinion anyway. I watch too many prison life documentaries.
My Dad and I had this topic of discussion earlier. It’s such a shame what happened to his man. He was just about to retire from duty, and this happens.
But three, police officers!? Man. Why kill a HERO!? This world is a sick place.
Girl people are NUTS!! And the sad thing is how many people are repeat offenders, and how young kids are starting to commit crimes.
I’m for the death penalty in some instances, some people commit crimes do the time get out then go on to do the same thing again and again. Some criminals have taken so many lives that why should tax payers be force to pay to keep these people feed and alive in a prison where they get to watch cable etc.
Well, stuff on the West coast isn’t much better. A boy in our town, my older brother’s 7th grade best friend, was shot last week. It made me so sad, and I hated it.
I don’t think the death penalty is right either. Why not sentence them to torture? Like having to watch a Real World marathon? But all joking aside, I totally agree with you.
It’s a sick world.
They were talking about this on CNN yesterday, it’s truly horrid. Unfortunately crime is on the rise here, too. I wonder if it’s all over the country.
I personally am FOR the death penalty… It’s done and over with, we can move on to some other scumbag. I prefer to seem them dead than having to pay with MY taxes to make those scumbags live in jail.
Wow that’s funny. I was just chatting with this Philly guy on Yahoo!. He was talking about how he was blocked in at his apartment because another cop got killed.
Yeah I think the Death Penalty is stupid, as is having people sit around locked in a box. They should make those people civil servants. Build roads, clean parks, staff soup kitchens, lol. Something useful to society.
What happened to doing what is right because it’s right? I don’t understand only doing what’s right when you think you’ll get caught. Probably runs back to upbringing. Instilling fear rather than respect.
i am so sincerely sorry for the loss in the city! that is just terrible. people kill for (what seems) no reason anymore. can’t we all just get along? lol. sad to say it…but crime is only going to get worst.
hope your halloween was awesome sweetie xoxo
I absolutely HATE the world we are living in these days. How awful that a cop can’t get some Dunkin’ Donuts without being shot. Everyone is just killing each other everyday now. It disgusts me that it has become so common.
It makes me second guess bringing a child into this world.
I am FOR the death penalty, however. I understand and respect your opinion. I just believe paying my tax money to keep murderers, rapists, and child molesters alive is sickening. They live quite a great lifestyle – free health care, TV/leisure/activity time, and free education. It is basically a slap on the wrist, while their victims are either dead with a grieving family or the life of the living victims have been ruined. I wish we had a harsher justice system, but unfortunately, that doesn’t exist.
It is a shame that we have to fear living in this world these days,
I know what you mean. The world is just so scary with all these people acting like lunatics. It’s really sad about the police officers that died in Philly. I wish for one day I can turn on the television and not hear that someone died.
