Completely Insulting.

Edit: I truly wish there were some type of plugin that would send me the url of anyone who registers for my website. I’ve been receiving some very strange usernames. This is a forewarning, if your username looks suspect, I will deny your request for registration.

I, for one, am glad that Black History month is over. Quite frankly, I think the whole month is rather insulting. First of all, besides leap year, there are 28 days in the month. So, the shortest month of the year was chosen for our history? Yay! :| So stupid. If we’re going to learn any kind of history, I’d rather it be integrated with anything else, wouldn’t you agree? By no means do I find this month to be a way to make up for things that happened in the past. To be quite honest, I wasn’t even born then so I can’t complain about slavery and all of that crap. Granted, racism still exists today but if everyone stopped got damn complaining you’d find it to be much easier to ignore such ignorance, especially if it isn’t anything extreme like murder or some other psychopathic shit that racists choose to partake in. I would rather black history to be emphasized in the classroom more than anything. All other history is highlighted in schools, I don’t see why Black History would be so damned special to have it’s own month. Every history is just as much important as another. Sorry for the rant, but that’s been on my mind.

I’m feeling a lot better than I did for this last past week. It was terrible. I’m more than ready to go back to work. Shit, I’m glad. I haven’t been able to update the website like I’d like to but don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about it. Please remember that there are other themes available for this website. Choose as you’d like to. I’m going to finish enjoying the rest of my weekend and you guys do the same. Take care.

I know what you mean. I think it’s annoying when people complain about that. Why can’t people let the past be past.

Oooh, I had a look through your themes and I like “Intimacy” best. :)
Racism is crap. I dont get it personally. I dont understand the need some people have to insult someone with a different colour skin.. its insane.

Yea it is kinda messed up how black history month is the shortest month, Its like giving us a 30 second commercial during a day to reflect our known history which we cant trace back before slavery. Sad thing is we are still slaves. Slaves to money, slaves to materials and slaves to sex. Whats even worst is some of the slave masters are our own people showing us how to tighten those chains. It sucks but its life.

There are some facets of racism that simply can’t be ignored, you’ll know of it when you come across them because it’s a great injustice to you, and you sell yourself short by simply being quiet. I refuse to do nothing when I feel very strongly that something is being brought against me solely because I’m black. So no, I don’t complain, I stand up and act. And that part doesn’t applying for just black people, but all people. And it shouldn’t take one month to recognize that. (Though I have no qualms with paying homage to our black leader during this month). It’s the 21st century now, it’s time for people to wake up.

My goodness, every one has been sick lately! I’ve been from blog to bog ( including my own ) and almost everyone has had an illness. Something must be going around.

Personally, I think Black history is just as important as any other history as well. History is history. Even though I hate the subject in school, I wouldn’t mind being enlightened by other cultures for the whole calendar year.

Really? But, I use this plug-in for my smilies. Someone told me that all of their pages and posts got erased. Nothing like that happened ? I’m still a little scared to try it.. :nerd:

Yes , I agree it is in insulting but then again some people are so caught up in what they believe is right and reparations that they don’t even think to ignore the ignorance . Yeah some things should not be ignored but then again others should. Instead of complaining black people should work together as a whole and continue to prove all those statistics and stereotypes labeled of our people wrong.

Nice to hear you’re feeling better , all your themes are nice and I always choose a diff one every blue moon . I’m a sucker for light layouts at the moment so right now I’m choosing the “think pink ” theme lol .

I agree with all the black history stuff. There are tons of cultures in the United States. I like things like “Diversity Week” better, where you celebrate all sorts of backgrounds and not focus on how one culture is better than others. Honestly, I’m sick of all of the vH1 shows telling me I can’t be hip, cool or anything but a square and a butt of jokes just because I’m white. :/

It is insulting that we’re given the shortest month out of the year, but I don’t hate this month or think it’s of little of importance. Being from America, you’re taught American History and of course, Black people are a part of that history so people should be enlightened. It should be integrated throughout the school year, instead of one simple month though. Glad to hear you’re feeling better hun.

I’ve actually forgotten all about the black history month, only because I haven’t been in school — where we always used to have lessons on it, or something tied into it. I always forget that February is the shortest month of the year, so it never really clicked on me that it was given on the shortest month. Hope you don’t find this offensive.

  11. March 3rd, 2008 at 4:42 am

agreed. why must Black History have it’s own month?
” I wasn’t even born then so I can’t complain about slavery and all of that crap.” – same here.
    plus BET- why?

anyway, i’d rather not get into it.

  12. March 4th, 2008 at 10:30 am

Hell if I had it my way, EVERY month would be black history month.

It’s like this: “let us celebrate them black folks for this month ryght chea, and don’t give a damn about em the other 11 months”.

I don’t even recogonize Black History Month. I feel as though it is segregating our own kind as a people.

  13. March 4th, 2008 at 12:35 pm

    i know what you mean.
why do they pick one month to celebrate black history? it should be celebrated 365 like all the other things in history, there’s so much black history why only learn about it in one month? I never understood that.
    that’s good you feel better!

  14. March 4th, 2008 at 11:57 pm

I don’t think I ever cared too much about black history month because all they ever did was educate us on MLK over and over and over. And all these same darn people. I’m like who caaares. I’m tired of these people.

  15. March 5th, 2008 at 10:00 am

i’ve never really liked the notion of black history month neither. i feel that black history should be tought ever other day or have a block of instruction in classes just like any other race. and i must agree with gwanii, we always did learn about the same 3 people, mlk, rosa parks, and malcolm x.

  16. March 5th, 2008 at 11:43 am

I agree with your on Black History month. There are all different races, how come only one needs to be recognized? It’s like Valentines Day to me, I just don’t understand it – I never will.

There IS still racism now a days. I get it all the time at the new store I’m working at. People get angry with me because I do not speak Spanish. I find it unfair. But I have also met some really nice Spanish people as well so it balances out in the long run. Everyone is different and has different opinions I suppose.

The only thing my school ever did any different for Black History Month, was to put up some pictures in the cafeteria.

The whole thing is just political.

There’s all sorts of other days and months too. March is Women’s history month, but you never here anything about that. April is Holocaust Month, National Poetry Month and Jazz Appreciation Month. Black History Month just gets the most attention I guess *shrugs*

  18. March 5th, 2008 at 2:46 pm

Unfortunately who knows why they warrant the struggles of some races more than other. It’s difficult sometimes, but remembering the struggle sometimes reminds them of what they did wrong… does that make sense or maybe I’m twisting up my words and thoughts somewhere ^_^

  19. March 5th, 2008 at 3:25 pm

I hear what your saying, I just choose not to let it get all in my head.. man flu season is a drag….

  20. March 5th, 2008 at 10:42 pm

Speaking of BHM, we aint even do shit this year. Excuse my french. But omg every year in history we are supposed to do SOMETHING, IDK maybe it was because we were focused on other things … but not even a word was metioned about it and if i aint know Feb. was BHM, it would of just been a regular month … although it feels like it.

Black history month is a trip because it is the shortest month of the year and sadly people forge the month even existed. I was in line for coffee at OU and these two Black students in front of me said I know it is something special this month and when the other mentioned Black history month they just laughed and joked and said it dont mean nothing. If you were to ask a random Black person on the street who invented the traffic light will they know it was a black man? I wonder, and doubt the right answer
