I have been busy, as usual. I’m still in the process of moving and countless other things. Recently, my son was very ill (again). As many of you know, he has asthma. He had a really bad attack the other day that scared the crap out of me. Needless to say, his medications at home weren’t working and I had to rush him to the hospital. He received some treatments and they sent him home on some medications that he has to take for a few days. It was a complete nightmare and I was scared out of my mind. I’m so happy that he’s alright now, though. At that point in time nothing else mattered to me but making sure he was alright. I just hope that he doesn’t have an episode like that again.
I have upgraded my WordPress to 2.5. I like the new dashboard in a way but quite frankly, I like the old version a lot better. I was using an advanced menu plugin, spotmilk, and a plugin to customize my login page. I had to deactivate those plugins for anything to even look right. I hate inconvenience and most of the time I despise change. It’s all good, though. I don’t have the time to keep up with such things right now anyway. I have also added a section on the website containing brief summaries of books I have read. I am always reading. I put my library card to use and mostly read when I’m on the bus or completely bored out of my mind. I have an appreciation for books. You can view the page here. Please be advised that the page is still under construction.
I’m not sure if I’m the only WordPress user that does this, but, I would hate to have something happen to my WordPress and have to start all over again. I currently have a the database backup plugin and I also use RunPHP. What I do is write pages into a notepad (.txt) file and connect them to wordpress pages using a php include code. What this means is that my pages are stored on my server as opposed to being stored in WordPress. In this way, if something happens to my wordpress, all I’d have to do is recreate the pages and connect them to the txt files on my server. If that makes sense? I have decided that when I have the time I will write a tutorial on how to do this. I believe that it will help a lot of you that aren’t aware that this can be done. Believe me, it saves alot of time and trouble.
I am rambling and I much rather spend this time relaxing being as though I have to be back to work on Monday and I don’t have much time to relax. I’m going to end this here. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Sorry to hear about your son, but its good to hear hes ok. Get him some transformers, I use to love those when i was a kid.
Awww…I hope your son feels better.
Pls help me with my WP. I tryed getting my wp 2.5 to work but I think everything is screwed up. lol
My grandmother and father have pretty bad asthma too, it can get super scary when it flares up… I’m glad everything’s okay with your son!! As for WP, I really enjoy the upgrade, probably because I didn’t have any of the fancy-shmancy plugins you had before, hehe. So it was basically just a cluttered mess for me — the new look is a lot sleeker and while it’ll take some getting used to (I used the old interface for how many years??) it is organized in a more sensible way. Please post a tutorial about that backup system of yours, it sounds ingenius!
I wouldn’t blame you for being scared. I’m just glad your son is doing better.
Regarding wordpress, I don’t think I could do it like that, But the whole point is, this is your place, its all up to you to do what you seem fit.
I’m glad your son is better. trust me I know the feeling of being afraid! My nephew currently suffers from really bad asthma and my sis is really worried that the meds they have given him are no longer working. Plus the insurance co. may not cover them. Those meds are quite costly.
As for WP…I agree I like the old dashboard bettter. I never disabled the spotmilk. I may do that now and see if i like it better. I’m not good with changing the designs and stuff soI don’t play around with it too much. I do love my blog and I’d die if I lost it! LOL So I sometimes opt to leave well enough alone.
You and your son are in my prayers!
I’m so sorry about your son. Asthma is so scary, but I’m glad he’s alright now, and the doctors were able to help him out.
As for WP, I upgraded once to 2.3 and lost everything so now I doubt I’ll ever upgrade again. Everything is perfect and I like my site the way it is so I doubt I’m going to do it. I’m one of those people who hates change as well.
ps – what books are you reading?
I recently had to redo my entire wordpress
it was devastating. lol now, but I was pissed. But If you do get around to making the tutorial I will definetly be looking into that.
About the situation with your son, as my mother always tells me, I will NEVER understand a mother’s love until I have children of my own; therefore I can only imagine how you must have felt. I’m glad to hear that your son is okay
though. And I am sorry to hear that you and him had to go through that.
;( @ your son having asthma. That is a scary thing. I used to have bad attacks when I was young, and I’d be rushed to the hospital a lot. It’s not a fun experience, that’s for sure. I’m glad that he’s okay and out of the hospital now though. ;[ Poor thing, I feel for him.
I’m not a fan of the look of the admin. I’ve already gotten lost in the tabs. lol. However, I do like the features, and the fact that the update went a lot more smoothly. I was prepared to revert back to 2.3.3 if I had any conflicts with plugin compatibilities.
That’s actually really clever how you set up your pages. I use external PHP files, and just include the WordPress header.
I’m updating my wp as I type this =) I had some problems when I tried last night; I hope this night goes smoother. I’m not a fan of the new colour scheme, but I might as well give the damned thing a try.
Sorry your son has has a bad attack again =( Hope he’s alright soon.
awwl i am sorry to hear about ur son.. i am glad its getting and going better.. i will ck out ur book summaries also cuz i love to read as well i hope u had a good weekend also..
Oh! :s i hope your son has fully recovered by now!
I hope your son is doing okay !
I’m afraid to update my wordpress, I’m still trying to get the hang of it in general. So the new wordpress doesn’t work with login style plug-ins ?
Eventually , when I have enough time to sit down I’ll try to tackle it and update .
Hope by now you’ve gotten enough rest to get you through the week !
Wow, I’m glad your son is okay!
Wordpress is so popular, I kind of what to see what the fuss is about. I hope you have a great weekend too
