[Edit: 05.30.08] My website is finally XHTML and CSS validated! Boredom and curiosity got the best of me last night so I did some exploring and ended up validating my website. It was alot easier than I anticipated. [/Edit]
I upgraded to WordPress 2.5 last night. I didn’t like it before, I won’t say I totally enjoy it now but I know I would have needed to upgrade sooner or later. When I made the upgrade, I searched for some advanced-menu plugins and to my luck, I found one! One thing that I do like about this wordpress version is that the plugins can be updated straight from the plugins panel. That’s a plus. This will still take some getting used to. I guess it’s not that bad. I still have to update my smilies and what not. My silly self forgot to save the codes I did for them in the first place so this isn’t exactly something I’m going to complete enjoy. If any of you haven’t read my previous entry, you may do so by clicking here or scrolling down. Before I forget, I have provided a screenshot of my dashboard for you guys to see. I plan on customizing it more later on in the future.
Heh at least it’s manageable. I haven’t been here in so long. I love what you’ve done with the place.
I’m glad you have 2.5. It’s actually quite likable. I need to ask you about some plugins because I’m trying to fix my WordPress from being so annoying to being more manageable. lol

I upgraded about a week (or two) after it came out, and there’s already a 2.5.1 waiting to be installed. I’m sure that as soon as I install that one, 2.5.2 is going to come out. Argh.
If only these things updated themselves.

I hate one thing about updating – smilies! Whenever I add new smilies and customize their names to ones already in database, they are overwritten no matter what. So, I have to upload them to the server once more. It’s annoying, because they release new 0.1 version once a while.
As for WordPress itself, I really dislike the new look of 2.5. That’s why I installed Fluency theme and I’m really satisfied with how it looks! Too bad there’s no more themes around yet…

Wordpress is a trip, but there are other blogging tools out there so the fact that most people are using wordpress is saying that they are doing something right. WordPress is like the Ipod of blogging tools, there are other MP3 players but dude thats a IPOD! LOL.
I like 2.5 only because of the plugin updater. I’ve never had all of my plugins updated on a regular basis like this before. Every time a new version of WP comes out they find a way to make us lazier and lazier. Pretty soon its going to type for us.

2.5 takes some getting used to. I’m annoyed at the fact they released 2.5.1 so darn close to 2.5. They need to sit their little happy selves down somewhere!! LOL Yay for validating your site. I think that’s cool but i hate those that bad mouth sites that aren’t validated and think its so important to validate. As long as my site is viewable I’m ok, yanno? ♥

At some point I wanted to learn how to Validate my website because I plan on sharpening my template skills gradually and I know that’s one important thing that would need to be done if I’m going to maintain steady clientèle.

I’ve really been obsessed with making my wordpress more manageable. I think I have OCD because if things are out of place I am completely irked to no end.
It really didn’t take me long to update. I have the automatic update plugin and it works wonders!
I think the only thing that I don’t like about 2.5 is the Dashboard. I think that 2.3′s dashboard was a lot better, plus the fact that I pretty much customized it to look the way I wanted it to.

Ello deary! I LOVE the new wordpress and you’re right it does make things easier at the plugin interface. If you want to change your smilies then you could use the plugin custom-smilies. it works perfectly with wordpress 2.5.1 and it makes it easier to change smilies.
Funny you mentioned that. I found the custom-smilies plugin this morning and installed it. It works very well :cheery:

Hmmm. I’m thinking about upgrading but IDK if I want to take the risk. I just have a feeling something’s bound to go wrong lol. The 2.5 seems confusing to me, it’s like somewhat harder to find things ’cause they’re not really IN YOUR FACE anymore imo lol. Maybe it’s just me and my slowness!
I just read the previous blog. I can’t login and when I try to retrieve my pword, it says that my key or something doesn’t exist. I guess I was deleted? I was going to reregister but let me know if you just don’t want me to or something lol.
And did you fix the smilies thing? I can see them

I just had 2.5 installed on my site, and I haven’t even had time to look around and learn what’s what. More worried about getting my layout to show up. :annoyed:

Oh. My. Gosh! I loveeee your component-themed layout! It’s totally gorgeous!! I always thought about trying to do a WP theme that was like component, but I never knew where to start, haha. I suck! You did it beautifully though!
WP 2.5 looks so much different than before! I just started blogging again and when I installed it, I was like WTF? haha.

My site was validated once but it’s wayyyy too time consuming. Someone blogged about my site once, on how great it is and etc, and someone commented thst it’s crap because it wasn’t css validated. To be honest, 80% of our viewers are not web savvy or html/css gurus. So they wouldn’t know what validation is.
I love this theme by the way. All it’s missing now is a header.

Hi Ms.Shannon. I like your theme, and 2.5 isn’t that bad is it. I like it better than I do the others, but a lot of things don’t work well with it, the plugins and everything, so thats the only reason. About my brother, I hope he does because we are always running here & there and everywhere, I am about to change my major to a nurse.

Congrats on validating your site. I have to do that sometime. Maybe in the near future considering how lazy I am. I’m not use to WP 2.5 even though I’ve had it for so long.

I reckon that’s something that the WordPress upgrade installation should include on the WordPress codex site.
BACK UP YOUR EXISTING VARS FILE, AND SAVE YOUR EXISTING EMOTICON CONFIGURATION TO PREVENT YOU FROM YANKING YOUR HAIR OUT.
Perhaps, I should send that suggestion into WordPress? lol.

I had a plugin for automatic updates but it didn’t work when I was upgrading from WP 2.3.3 to 2.5, so I got rid of it.
Maybe I should give it another try

I attempted to validate my site but I got frustrated and realized I had homework and studying to do so forget it but congrats, Im trying to prolong upgrading to 2.5. I’ve heard nothing but bad things about it
